Alas… I can’t believe it has been some 5 years since my last post.
Time flies. Well, and I guess we have all being very busy, especially in the last year or so.
Anyway, I have decided to try this again, but now at Medium: Alves’ ABC.

Finally, I feel like the name of the Medium profile I chose (Alves’ ABC) deserves some explanation. As it so happens, I share my surname (Castro Alves) with a famous poet in Brazil from the 1870’s who championed minority causes, such as abolitionism. In fact, he was called the Poet of the Slaves. Another famous Brazilian writer, Jorge Amado, later wrote a biography on him called “ABC de Castro Alves” (Castro Alves’ ABC).
I am borrowing this title (Alves’ ABC). Not to compare myself to the poet or to his writing. I am a lousy writer. I am borrowing his title to remind myself (and others) how civilization has improved… and yet there is still a long long way to go.
